| From: Edgar Mercedes (President of Born to Play) Naipaul Bassoo has completed a 1.5 month stay at our Academy, BORN TO PLAY, in the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo. He was here from January 25/2010 to March 4/2010. Naipaul practiced on a daily basis with our top players (Edward Salcedo and Wagner Mateo) and many more. Naipaul is very dedicated and is a hard worker. He was has a positive attitude and more than anything wants to play baseball. During Naipaul’s short stay with us we focused on the parts of his game needed the most work. Our staff was pleasantly surprised as to how quick he understood what was explained to him and how quickly he transferred that to the playing field. Naipaul right now is a line drive hitter with potential for power. We worked on getting him to hit line drive as when he arrived he had an upper swing. In the future, Naipaul will hit for power. All he needs is more playing time and someone willing to spend some more time with him in the cage and on the field correcting him on the spot. Overall having Naipaul on a team is a plus for teammates, coaching and the game itself. Edgar Mercedes edgarmercedes@hotmail.com (809) 583-5757 |
| From: Francis Mo (Personal Trainer at YMCA Markham) Naipaul Bassoo came to me in December 2008 to specifically work on strength training. That was the best move he could have done for his baseball career. Naipaul has worked with me every Monday and Friday morning 6:30am – 7:30am. The first half hour we would do strength training and the second half we would do speed/cardio training. Over the years, Naipaul has matured mentally. He comes in about 30 minutes before to stretch properly. His body is very loose and flexible. I know Naipaul can achieve his baseball goal in the up coming years and hope to see him do well.
